Professional packing that protects your cargo from the moment it leaves origin, right through to safe delivery at destination – by sea, air, or road.
Overview
Transam offers supply chain solutions that connect people, products, and places. By integrating sea and airfreight services with trucking, customs brokerage, warehousing, documentation, and more, we deliver seamless and custom-tailored end-to-end logistics.
Cargo that’s packed correctly arrives intact. The right materials, techniques, and standards for every product, reducing damage claims and replacement costs.
Proper packing reduces insurance claims, re-shipment costs, and the administrative burden of damaged goods. Getting it right the first time is always cheaper.
We pack to shipping specifications, compliant with carrier requirements, biosecurity rules, and dangerous goods regulations, saving you time and avoiding hold-ups at the border.
Options
From standard commercial packing to specialist crating and on-arrival unpacking, we provide a complete packing service across all freight modes.
We pack your goods to the standard required for international freight – robust, compliant, and appropriate for the mode of transport and destination market.
For goods requiring extra care, electronics, instruments, artwork, and fragile machinery, we apply protective materials and internal bracing to minimise movement and absorb shock.
We design and build custom timber crates and heavy-duty boxes for machinery, equipment, and any cargo that requires structural protection during transit.
On arrival at destination, our teams on the ground unpack, check, and document the condition of goods, ensuring a clean handover and identifying any transit damage promptly.
Specialised cargo requires different packing approaches – we apply the right method for the product and the journey.
01
For general freight moving by sea, air, or road, cartons, pallets, strapping, and shrink wrap is applied to carrier and trade specifications. Clean, efficient, and compliant.
02
Artworks, glassware, scientific equipment, and high-value goods need more than a cardboard box. We use specialised cushioning, internal framing, and robust external cases to protect what matters.
03
Dangerous goods require packing that meets strict IATA (air) and IMDG (sea) standards. We use compliant UN-rated packaging and ensure full documentation accompanies the consignment.
04
When multiple products from different suppliers need to be consolidated into a single shipment, we manage the packing, labelling, and organisation to ensure accurate delivery and efficient customs clearance.
Export packing refers to packing goods specifically to withstand the conditions of international freight, including loading, port handling, sea swell, and temperature changes. Unlike domestic packing, export packing must comply with carrier requirements and destination biosecurity rules. Poor export packing is one of the most common causes of transit damage and cargo rejections.
Yes. We are trained and equipped to pack goods classified as dangerous under IATA (airfreight) and IMDG (seafreight) codes. This includes correct UN-rated packaging, inner/outer packaging specifications, and accurate labelling. All DG packing is completed with the required documentation for the carrying carrier and the destination country.
Yes. We can organise the design and construction of custom timber crates and heavy-duty wooden cases for machinery, industrial equipment, artworks, and any cargo that doesn’t fit standard packaging. They're built to the dimensions and weight requirements of your specific cargo, and all timber packing meets ISPM 15 biosecurity standards for export.
Airfreight has strict weight and dimensional constraints, and carriers apply density-based pricing. Packing for air needs to be as lightweight as possible without compromising protection. We use low-weight protective materials, right-sized cartons, and ensure compliance with IATA dangerous goods regulations where applicable. For time-sensitive shipments, we pack to minimise handling time at origin and destination.
Road freight is subject to vibration, shifting loads, and variable handling across multiple transfer points. We pack road consignments with appropriate internal cushioning, pallet stability (stretch-wrapped and strapped), and weight distribution suited to the vehicle type. For cross-border road movements, we also ensure compliance with any phytosanitary or biosecurity requirements at border crossings.
Yes. Our unpacking service covers receiving the shipment, removing outer packaging, checking the condition of goods against the packing list, and documenting any transit damage. We provide a condition report on completion, which is essential for insurance claims if damage has occurred during transit.

Export packing and seafreight go hand in hand. We manage both to ensure your cargo meets carrier standards.

For time-critical shipments, our airfreight support works alongside packing to ensure your cargo meets airline weight, dimension, and compliance requirements.

Pack and store cargo in the same facility, we coordinate packing and warehousing as a connected service.
